Last year when I worked out of an office, I was at my computer at my desk, logged into ichat. Incidentally, I bumped my mouse while I was talking to someone standing at my desk, and clicked the audio chat button for my friend whose office is on the other side of our office suite. Suddenly, she could hear everything I was talking about with the person standing with me.
Nothing bad happened, it was a perfectly ok conversation to listen in on, but I’m always afraid now that its going to happen again…but this time be very embarrassing.
For example, right now I’m working at my computer, but have the TV on and currently tuned to the 90s music channel. A moment ago, Mariah Carey’s “Hero” came on…and I sang along at the top of my lungs (and it turns out I know every word)…but toward the end of the song, I had this moment of sheer panic, like, “WHAT IF SOMEONE ON ICHAT IS LISTENING TO ME????!!?”
How horrifying. For everyone involved.
That’s just one of my bigger fears.
